  • SUZUKI CELEBRATES 55 YEARS OF ALLGRIP 4X4 TECH

    • A long-standing Town & Country Cars customer is forever part of Suzuki automotive history, as the Japanese marque celebrates 55 years of its 4x4 technology.

A customer - and now close friend of the family-run business - for 25 years, David Marshall-Duffield provided Suzuki Motor Corporation with his once-beloved second-generation Grand Vitara.

The 4WD classic took centre stage along with other famed 4x4 models, both current and heritage – including Suzuki’s first-ever 4WD vehicle: the LJ10.

Globally renowned for its 4x4 technology known as ALLGRIP, vintage Suzuki expertise was on full display, leaving David and wife Mary brimming with pride at their momentous contribution.

Since the introduction of the LJ10 in 1970, and in the five decades since, Suzuki’s expertise and vast 4WD knowledge has evolved to provide driving enjoyment and peace of mind in diverse conditions.

Plus, promoting excellent fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions has been made possible thanks to Suzuki’s lightweight HEARTECT platform design.

ALLGRIP is also ideal for people based in rural areas who may need additional mobility across rougher terrain, or for crossing slippery surfaces during winter months.

Making its market debut in 2005, 4x4 tech is equipped as standard on David’s GV, carrying forward the unique identity of the Vitara series and showing advances that heightened awareness of Suzuki’s SUV excellence.

    • The GV embodied three key attributes: tough off-road performance; stable on-road performance; and refined ride quality – making it an extremely sought-after SUV, years after original release!

Selling 1.8 million global units – over two generations - was clear evidence that Suzuki had struck gold with this 4x4 classic.

David needed no further reason in persuading himself to relentlessly hunt for, purchase and refurbish – even the GV body decals! – his own model.

Looking absolutely resplendent positioned in the ALLGRIP line-up, it was an SUV ahead of its time with a distinct character that made driving fun.

And that’s still the case today after 20 years; just ask the Marshall-Duffield’s...

      “Alright guv'ner?”
